It’s just the way we write it out.” At trial, Ms. Barnett successfully advanced her theory that in the course of Mr. Murray’s arrest, law enforcement had abused their power and taken the law into their own hands. Faced with years in prison on various drug and weapons possession charges, Mr. Murray was ultimately acquitted by a jury and returned to his normal life.
